Worth the drive: Strauss's sweeping tone poem inspired by Nietzsche, famous for its thundering sunrise opening and popularized worldwide by its use in "2001: A Space Odyssey." The piece unfolds as a continuous stream of sections, each inspired by a chapter title from Nietzsche's philosophical book "Also sprach Zarathustra," though Strauss asks listeners to follow the music, not a plot.
