In short

Tengku Irfan is a conductor from Malaysia who appears with the Seattle Symphony in 2026 and 2027. His dates include family and holiday concerts, such as Halloween, The Snowman and a children's program, and Stravinsky's The Firebird in May 2027.

On the podium

His programs ask for clarity and good storytelling. The Snowman is a film score played live, so the orchestra has to keep exact time with the picture. Stravinsky's The Firebird has delicate, shimmering colors that give way to a loud, sudden burst and a glowing finale. Listeners can expect careful attention to how music matches a story.
