About the York Symphony Orchestra

The York Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra serving York, Pennsylvania, performing its season at the Strand Theater in the Appell Center for the Performing Arts. A typical season mixes full classical programs with a pops concert of lighter, popular repertoire and a film concert where the orchestra performs a score live while a movie plays overhead. First-time visitors can expect a mid-size ensemble in an intimate, historic downtown theater, a program note or spoken introduction to help newcomers follow the music, and a mix of familiar symphonic favorites alongside occasional newer or local works. It is a comfortable, unpretentious way to hear live orchestral music without traveling to a major city.
