The Paducah Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra serving far western Kentucky and the surrounding river country, drawing on professional players and skilled local musicians. This season it splits its concerts between Symphony Hall in downtown Paducah, an intimate room well suited to small ensembles, and the larger Carson Center on the riverfront. The programming is deliberately mixed: five full orchestral classical concerts, five chamber programs for a handful of players, three holiday events, three pops nights, two concerts with chorus, plus a film screening with live orchestra and an education program for young listeners. A different guest conductor leads many of the concerts, among them Conner Gray Covington, Ron Spigelman, Michael Shapiro, Jherrard Hardeman and Samuel Hollister. Newcomers can expect a relaxed hall, short spoken introductions from the podium, and a drive that ends within a few blocks of restaurants.
