About the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra

Fairfax Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra serving Fairfax, Virginia and the wider Washington, DC suburbs. Its concerts this season are heard at the Center for the Arts and the Harris Theatre, both on the George Mason University campus, as well as at Capital One Hall. Programs mix mainstream classical repertoire with holiday concerts and a film-with-orchestra event, giving newcomers an easy entry point alongside symphonic staples. The orchestra draws on the deep pool of freelance and military-band musicians in the DC area, and its concerts have the relaxed, community feel typical of a well-run regional ensemble rather than the formality of a big-city hall. A first-time visitor can expect a friendly audience, moderate ticket prices, and a program note or spoken introduction to help make sense of what is being played.
